We are so overwhelmed with red Ducati’s with names like Pannigale, Superleggera, etc. that the awesome scrambler from the manufacturer is criminally unnoticed. We are talking about the Scrambler 1100 Sport Pro, loaded with everything to have awesomeness. Being an Italian manufacturer, Ducati has always strived for finesse with design and, for the Scrambler, the manufacturer has collaborated with ArtCenter College of Design, the most renowned design institute in the world. And the result is amazing. The muscular appearance of the machine is completed with the metallic X inside the headlamp which recreates 70s practice of applying tapes to preserve the light cluster. The tubular steel trellis frame with double top beam and wide handlebars offers superb agility and awesome handling in traffic situations and the twists and turns of hilly roads. Featured with café racer styling, this bike is capable of multi-terrain riding because of the 150 mm wheel travel allowed by Ohlins suspensions on both wheels. The power of the smooth accelerating engine is managed by three riding modes and Ducati traction control; there is also a ride-by-wire and inertial platform for enhanced electronic support.
The Yamaha V-Max, known for its buff appearance, has been a symbol of raw power. Its robust V4 engine ensures an adrenaline-charged riding experience. Since its debut in 1985, the VMAX has been turning heads. It breaks away from the typical cruiser style by opting for a V4 engine instead of the usual V-twin, and it ditches the chain drive for a shaft. It’s unconventional. And to top it off, it’s insanely fast. Over time, the V-Max has seen various versions, but it’s the later model that stands out for us. With a robust 1,679 cc V4 engine churning out an incredible 197 hp and 123 lb-ft of torque, the 2020 V-Max is a powerhouse. It does not boast the advanced riding aids found in other modern performance cruisers. Its fuel efficiency isn’t outstanding, especially for long-distance rides where better mileage and sixth gear are crucial. However, if you’re after quick bursts of speed and cruising on the streets atop a fierce machine, the V-Max will get the job done.

Granted, I still think the Scout engine and/or platform would be a better platform for the Sport treatment, but maybe Indian still has that project up its sleeve. Nonetheless, the Sport Chief delivers beyond just in suspension travel. The added length also gives it impressive handling and cornering abilities (for a cruiser), and Brembo brake components bring it down to a halt nicely, too. It gets a few points taken away for wafting some engine heat to the rider despite the rear cylinder shutting down at a stop, but there’s something fun about exploiting that V-Twin torque, and the Sport Chief is ready for shenanigans when you are.
